Common help
- Use Scan Bill to extract title, amount, date, and receipt details.
- Use Hold to Speak to create entries with voice and auto-fill title, amount, and payment method.
- Use Paste SMS to turn bank messages into expenses, incomes, or recurring entries faster.
- Add a short note to an expense from More Details to remember useful context.
- Home screen shortcuts open Budget and Goals directly, and jump into the matching recurring planner sections for EMI, Insurance, and Investments.
- In Budget History, tap a spent amount to open the matching Transactions list for that cycle.
- Top-used categories and merchant memory help reduce taps in the add flows.
If something looks wrong
- Pull to refresh the screen and wait for sync to finish.
- Check network access and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- If you changed phones, make sure you signed in with the same Apple or Google account.
- If reminders or widgets look stale, open the app once to refresh local data.
- If household or profile photos briefly show placeholders, keep the app open while cloud photo sync completes.
Account and household help
- You can use OurSpend in solo mode or household mode.
- Household mode supports invited household members.
- Household members can share expenses, incomes, recurring items, and payment methods.
- The household admin manages household-level details such as the household photo and admin transfers.
- If you are the admin and other members remain, transfer admin access before deleting your account.
- If you are removed from a household, your app may switch you back to solo mode automatically.
- Keep access to your device and sign-in methods secure.
Premium subscriptions
- OurSpend Premium is optional. The available Premium features, subscription periods, and prices are shown in the app.
- Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple through the Apple Account used for purchase.
- To restore Premium on another device, sign in to the same OurSpend account and choose Restore Purchases in the Premium screen.
- To cancel or manage renewal, open your Apple Account subscription settings: Manage subscriptions.
- If a purchase, restore, refund, or renewal looks wrong, contact support with the Apple receipt details available to you. Do not send your Apple Account password.
Budgets and financial cycles
- Set the current cycle budget from Home or Budget. Use the pencil button on the current budget card to edit it.
- Use Budget History to review past cycles, plan future cycle budgets, duplicate a budget, or delete a budget entry.
- Tap a spent amount in Budget History to open the Transactions list filtered to expenses for that same cycle.
- Budget totals use posted transactions for the selected financial cycle. If you use credit card cycle settings, card configuration can affect which cycle an expense belongs to.
- Category budgets and rollover settings can be managed from the budget editor.
Transactions and recurring items
- Recurring plans support bills, EMI, insurance, and investments.
- Fixed recurring items can post to Transactions. Variable items may appear for review before posting.
- Once a recurring plan posts, the entry appears in Transactions and edits apply only to that posted ledger entry, not the underlying plan.
- Editing the recurring plan changes future schedule behavior only. It does not rewrite transactions that were already posted.
- Recurring filters use each plan's next due date, so the planner stays focused on what is coming up next.
- Upcoming Bills helps you review future payments by month and type.
- You can mark recurring items complete manually and manage deleted items from Recently Deleted.
Insights and budget
- Insights group posted income and outflow into Regular Spend, Bills, EMI, Insurance, and Investments. Schedule-only recurring plans are not added there.
- Budgets can be set for the current cycle, pre-set for future cycles, and reviewed in history.
- Reports and widgets use the same synced app data, but may need a short refresh after major updates.
Permissions
Some features require iOS permissions, including Camera, Photos, Microphone,
Speech Recognition, Face ID, Siri, Notifications, and Paste from Other Apps.
- If a permission was denied earlier, open iOS Settings and enable it manually.
- Search, Background App Refresh, and Mobile Data are controlled in iOS Settings.
- Widgets and reminders work best when notification permissions are granted.
Household limits and feature access
- OurSpend can be used without Premium. Optional Premium auto-renewable subscriptions unlock the Premium features shown in the app.
- The app supports solo use or a shared household.
- Bill scan, voice entry, paste SMS, widgets, and reminders are part of the standard app experience.
- Receipt photos and bill scans are supported for expense entry. Broader document attachment workflows may vary by feature.
- Deleted expenses, incomes, recurring items, goals, cards, and categories can appear in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days.
Maintenance and app updates
- If OurSpend shows a maintenance screen, the service is temporarily unavailable. It resumes automatically once maintenance is complete — no action needed on your part.
- If a feature shows "temporarily unavailable", it may be paused while we roll out a fix. Try again shortly.
- If you see an update prompt at launch, a newer version is available on the App Store. Updates are optional unless the app shows a required update notice, in which case you need to update to continue.
